What did my career pivoting journey look like?

Many people do not know this but in 2014-2018, I studied Biology (Pre-Med) with aspirations of becoming a physician. Once I graduated, I decided to take a gap year to work a full time job and study for the MCAT. As I geared towards kicking off my MCAT studies, I quickly realized that going to med school, then residency for an additional 8 years just wasn’t something I was passionate about anymore. I had to quickly pivot. Here is how that went:

2018: Program Specialist for a Non-Profit (Salary/Total Compensation: $45,000)

2019: Started my Masters in Public Health (Salary/Total Compensation: Unemployed; worked side gigs)

Early 2020: Account Manager at a Health Tech Startup (Salary/Total Compensation: $20/per hour; part-time)

Late 2020: Project Coordinator, Health Innovation Research in Academia (Salary/Total Compensation: $65,000)

2022: Product Manager at a HealthTech Company (Salary/Total Compensation: $170,000)
